Winter Exquisite: Zine & Diorama Fair

A one-day zine fest at Forbes Library, happening on Saturday February 8th, from 10-5 in the 1st floor reading room; intertwined with a winter-themed diorama exhibit in the same space, which will be on display for the month.

Applications for zine-vendors and diorama-exhibitors are now open - links below! Apply and spread the word! Applications will close at the end of October, and folks will be notified of acceptance by mid-November.

Winter-Exquisite: A Zine Fest uses shared imagination and the arts to invoke (remember) the season. This all-day Zine Fest intends both to counter the perceived eeriness of the milding effects that global warming has on it, and to summon/invite the cold, the wind, and the snow; all associated weather phenomena that together produce the Wonder of the barren season, by evoking the associated psychological effects of introspection, conviviality, and restorative coziness within.

We couple the DIY ethos of zine-making (a broad and mutable book-artform derived from the self-empowerment of cultural obsessions and political revolutions, made expressly to put the voice of one person into the hands of another) together with the enchanting zone of The Diorama (what myriad worlds within worlds can occur in such an enclosed space?!), unified by the dictum that “we all have the weather in common”. The hope is that by sharing how we each as individuals experience the vicissitudes of such a fundamental phenomenon, we will illuminate and celebrate our shared plight/condition as earthlings.
