Cookies with a Curator - Sojourner Truth in Florence

Show and tell from the Forbes Library's Collection on Third Thursdays in the Coolidge Museum.

"I Will Shake Every Place I Go To: Sojourner Truth in Florence"

Exploring Sojourner Truth's life while living in Florence 1843-1856 and the lessons she gives us for our times.

We will explore some children's books about Sojourner, introduce the walking tour of her house and environs in Florence, and lead discussion on her importance to us now. The culmination of the event will be the unveiling of the latest addition to the Forbes Library art collection, a new bronze statuette of Sojourner Truth by beloved local artist Greg Stone. We are so proud to bring Sojourner and Greg into the library at last.
All ages welcome! Always free! 

Join us as this monthly series does a year long celebration of the 125th anniversary of Forbes Library! September 2018-October 2019 topics will feature materials from the collections focusing on the construction and history of the building, staff, trustees, donors and our community.
