Making Net Zero Homes and Energy Retrofits Affordable, Healthy and Low in Embodied Carbon

To make a substantial and faster impact on reducing carbon emissions in our built environment, we need to remove the cost barriers of energy efficiency in new homes and energy retrofitting our massive existing housing stock.

The presentation will cover methods of designing and building assemblies and systems that reduce building materials and increase construction efficiency while using healthy and low embodied carbon resources.

Kent Hicks has been building houses for 30 years, and his commitment to mitigating climate change and passion for sharing his knowledge of best building practices have made him a leader in the field of high performance building. He is a Certified Passivhaus Consultant, a long standing member of the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA), and an approved Deep Energy Retrofit contractor through the Building Science Corp. There will be time for questions and discussion after the presentation.
