Report from the Texas/Mexico border

A  group of 10 Valley immigration activists will report  from a week at the border of Brownsville, TX and Matamoros, Mexico where they volunteered with refugees living in terrible conditions in Mexico as they are refused their right to cross over and make an asylum claim. They will also report on the Witness movement in Brownsville, TX protesting the illegal treatment by the US govt. in refusing migrants access and holding kangaroo courts in tents with insufficient language and legal support for migrants. The group, Jewish Activists for Immigration Justice of Western Mass, is currently hosting an art exhibit of work by migrant teens from the Tornillo Tx detention camp at the R. Michelson Gallery on Main St. Northampton through Feb. 21.
