Creating Local Solutions to Biodiversity Loss

monarch caterpillar on a leafAll local undertakings to build community resiliency must also include strategies to reverse the critical loss of biodiversity. In this talk, Peggy MacLeod will propose a vision of what could be achieved when organizations and citizens work together on local approaches to restore a biodiverse environment. Attendees will participate in a facilitated group process to spark a list of practical ideas of all sizes for implementation.

Peggy MacLeod retired in 2017 after 30 years of advocating for renewable energy and green building. She then co-founded the all-volunteer Western Mass Pollinator Networks (WMPN) to promote local solutions that help threatened pollinators rebuild their populations. A year ago WMPN transformed into the Massachusetts Pollinator Network as residents of many towns joined the effort to create pollinator pathways. After her recent participation in a biodiversity conference held in Ireland, Peggy wants to inspire others to develop local solutions to reversing biodiversity loss in our region.
